Timber firm accelerates SIPS division development

2009-08-19

A leading timber frame specialist has boosted its recently launched SIPS division with the appointment of a specialist business development manager.

Lowfield Timber Frames has hired Mark Jenkins, who brings 20 years experience in the sales of engineered timber products, including structural insulated panels.

The firm unveiled its investment in Structural Insulated Panel System solutions in March when it was awarded ‘System Supplier’ status for the TEK Building System, from Kingspan.

This gives LTF the ability to purchase raw (SIPS) materials direct, and to design, engineer and process them into structural kits ready for delivery and site construction, through a network of approved installers.

Lowfield Timber Frames, which is based on Shropshire/Powys border, is already well-known in the construction industry for its engineered timber frame solutions. The addition of SIPS to its portfolio addresses the ongoing development of eco-friendly standards.

SIPS expert, Garry Dyke, joined LTF earlier this year to head-up the new venture which will offer solutions to those looking to build highly energy efficient homes and buildings in line with the Communities and Local Governments ‘Code for Sustainable Homes’ scheme.

Lowfield Timber Frames managing director, Mark Philips, said: “Incorporating SIPS technology into our product lines is an important step for us towards providing the next generation of sustainable timber solutions.

“We’re extremely pleased to welcome Mark Jenkins on board. This is an exciting time for Lowfield Timber Frames and we’re building the team that will take us forward and ensure that we are offering leading technology to our customers.”

The company has enjoyed rapid growth in recent years and has achieved ISO 9001 accreditation, as well as independent approval for its Chain of Custody procedures which demonstrate to customers that the wood in its products has been sourced from forests approved by the Forest Stewardship Council or the Programme for the Endorsement of Certified Forests.
